Project Overview

The Technology Alliance Program (TAP) is the gateway to success in the realm of software and hardware integration within the VMware infrastructure. It provide software and hardware vendors with the essential tools and resources necessary to seamlessly create and deliver integrated solutions.

I was being part of UI Team and Team Lead,  responsible for structuring and maintaining the applications user experience as well as interface look and feel. However, the design system for VMware all applications was already in place, we were handling the core functionalities of one of the application i.e. TPH.

Let's start with the basics

VMware's Technology Alliance Program (TAP) serves as a collaborative platform for technology partners to integrate their solutions with VMware products. While TAP has been successful in fostering partnerships, some challenges hinder its effectiveness in maximizing collaboration and delivering value to both VMware and its partners.

The current state of the Technology Alliance Program exhibits challenges in terms of partner engagement, resource accessibility, and streamlined collaboration processes. Partners face difficulties in navigating the program, accessing relevant resources, and establishing efficient communication channels with VMware. This hinders the seamless integration of partner solutions with VMware products and impacts the overall success of the alliance program.

Negative impact of challenges :

After a long analysis including partner surveys and interviews, we could finalize the challenges and their impact. based on that it becomes easy to decide which functionalities should be implemented on priority. Here are some negative impacts to discuss on -

Design system :

VMware uses its centralised design system all over its products to maintain its brand identity. So we have basic typography, colour, buttons, spacings, and containers ready to use here. TAP was already there and there were just some enhancements needed so it was easy to incorporate the new changes into it.

To be more presise VMware uses its own clarity design system framework.

Clarity Design System is VMware’s open source offering to help teams build products and services that family well with VMware Cloud Foundation’s releases. Clarity provides a full set of components and tools for designers and developers to create intuitive and inclusive experiences for modern enterprise applications.

Let's see some wireframes

With the goals of each page approved in hand, it was time to start creating basic wireframes to set the foundation for all the content blocks we would need to design further. Surprisingly enough it wasn't a whole lot of effort with the client to get final approval on the wireframe.
